About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care hospital PCU License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Current acute care hospital PCU experience Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: This is a travel RN position in a PCU. The unit has a total of 20 beds and approximately 40 staff members. Staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses on the night shift, along with 2 techs. Patient ratios are estimated at 1:4, with a charge nurse free of patients. Expect to work with various types of equipment, including vents, feeding pumps, IV pumps, wound vacs, specialty beds, suction, and chest tubes. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Meditech/CPN. Typical procedures performed include placing chest tubes and bedside bronchoscopies. Candidates should be able to manage chest tubes, trauma patients, tracheostomies, and provide suctioning. The ideal applicant is a team player who enjoys working with a highly acute patient population. This unit offers the chance to work with complex and interesting patients. Teamwork is emphasized, with motivated nurses and supportive charge nurses. Tech support is readily available on both day and night shifts. The unit is staffed with wonderful physicians.
