Essential Functions / Performance Objectives Ensure the safety and security of each child in your care Nurture children through purposeful programming, implement mission based, age‑appropriate curricula as set forth by the lead teacher Develop and maintain positive relationships with all youth in your care Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues Provide and welcome ongoing positive dialogue and relations with YMCA families Complete continuing education annual requirements Maintain excellent room appearance and proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials Learn and actively implement YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline Complete opening and closing procedures as required Follow all childcare policies and procedures as set forth in the childcare employee handbook Apply all YMCA safety and emergency procedures and state and local codes Accurately complete an incident/accident report for each incident/accident and submit and report it in accordance with staff training Leadership Competencies Communication & Influence Developing Self & Others Inclusion Qualifications Minimum of 16 years of age Be able to lift 25 lbs Have an understanding of growth and development Meet qualifications needed for South Dakota State Childcare Licensing CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 60 days of hire, other YMCA required training within 60 days of hire Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Be passionate about the YMCA mission and vision and must personally advocate and demonstrate the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring Basic knowledge of computers Work Environment & Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Consistently demonstrate the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring The employee frequently is required to sit on the floor, bend, balance, reach and must be able to move around the work environment The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate See details of objects that are less than a few feet away See details of objects that are more than a few feet away Additional Expectations D – Dependability: Exhibit dependability by reporting for duty promptly and as scheduled A – Appearance: Maintain presentable appearance as determined by the dress code R – Role Model: Believe in and exhibit at all times the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring T – Teamwork: Work together, help one another and lend a hand, even if it is not part of your specific responsibility All persons interested in being a member of the YMCA staff must follow DART. #J-18808-Ljbffr
