Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Staff RN in the PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) is responsible for providing specialized recovery care to patients emerging from anesthesia following surgical procedures. This role involves closely monitoring patient vital signs, managing pain, and ensuring safe transition to the next phase of recovery or discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' physiological status continuously in the PACU.
• Implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and physician orders.
• Administer medications, manage pain, and perform treatments adhering to safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with surgical teams, patients, and families about patient status and recovery progress.
• Document all care activities thoroughly and accurately, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Respond promptly to any deterioration in patient condition and notify appropriate medical personnel.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Ohio license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Completion of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• CPR certification is required.
• Previous PACU or postoperative nursing experience preferred.
• Demonstrate strong communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.
