Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical care for patients. May assist as receptionist duties as needed RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Rooms and interviews patients to obtain medical information and to measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Records information in the medical record 2. Helps physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections 3. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the room stocked and cleaned, reordering supplies, and disposing of biohazard supplies 4. Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary 5. May collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing; give injections 6. Utilizes EHR system to perform front-office duties QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 1 year in a Direct Patient care role, including vital signs. (Candidate experience must align with expected clinical functions (i.e., injections, phlebotomy, EKG's) 2. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant OR 1 year in a direct patient care role, including vital signs. Candidate experience must align with expected clinical duties (i.e., injections, phlebotomy, EKGs) 3. Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA) 4.
