About the Position

Labor and Delivery RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Must have experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must be able to assist with catching the baby and transitioning the baby. Must be comfortable titrating drips. Previous travel experience is considered valuable. Description: This unit has 34 total beds with 2 operating rooms for C-sections and 2 triage beds. The average number of births is between 150 and 180 per month. The director requests 2 years of references for each submission. The recommended nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 for Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets. Common patient diagnoses include high-risk conditions such as preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychological or social issues. There is a surgical tech available 24/7 and a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift. An OB/GYN hospitalist is available 24/7 to assist with triaging patients and handling emergent cases. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners are also available in the nursery around the clock. OB anesthesia providers are present 24/7 for patient needs. The electronic fetal monitoring system is Centricity-perinatal. Block scheduling may be offered per contract requests. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend on days. Rotation for holidays occurs with permanent staff. There is a 45-minute response time for standby situations. Labor travelers need to have competencies in transitioning babies and attending low-risk deliveries. Staff are expected to adhere to unit workflows, policies, and feedback from management. The manager values providing feedback to ensure quality work from all staff.
