Operating Room (OR) Technician

The Operating Room Technician plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring the smooth operation of the operating room. This position involves assisting with various surgical procedures and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 9 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Schedule: Days (Monday Thursday), with potential call shifts

Shift Notes

The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 0600 to 1530 or 0700 to 1630, with call coverage required, including a minimum of 7 shifts every 6-week period and at least one weekend.

Unit Information

The operating room unit consists of:

• 6 Operating Rooms (ORs)
• 1 Gastrointestinal (GI) suite

Common surgical cases include orthopedic procedures, obstetric surgeries, and various general surgeries.

Required Qualifications

• BLS Certification
• North Dakota Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) certification
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification

Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in an operating room setting
• Familiarity with total joints and cesarean sections is essential
• Experience with the MAKO robot is a plus

Orientations and Training

• Expected 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation

Additional Notes

Clinicians with facial hair must pass specific fit testing, including the Primary or Secondary fit test. Clinicians unable to comply with this requirement may not continue in the position.
