Franchise Paralegal

Location: Falls Church, VA
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM-5:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $30-$40/hour + overtime
Work Arrangement: On-site for the first 6 months, with potential for hybrid work thereafter

Position Overview

A well-established law firm in Falls Church, Virginia is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its legal team. This position will support attorneys with a combination of franchise regulatory, transactional, corporate, and litigation matters .

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of paralegal experience within a private law firm or corporate legal department , strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Previous franchise law experience is preferred but not required.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity. The position will be fully on-site for the first six months. After six months, eligible employees may have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week based on performance, productivity, and job knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Support attorneys and paralegals with the preparation, review, filing, and management of franchise agreements, registrations, renewals, and amendments.
• Assist with state and federal franchise registrations.
• Communicate with state regulatory agencies regarding franchise filings and registrations.
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) .
• Manage the contract lifecycle, including organization, tracking, execution, renewals, and deadlines.
• Maintain an organized and comprehensive contract management system.
• Monitor key dates and deadlines and provide proactive follow-up.
• Assist with corporate filings, resolutions, and governance documentation.
• Prepare franchise agreements, default notices, termination notices, and other transactional documents.
• Support merger and acquisition transactions, franchise transfers, and due diligence.
• Prepare closing binders and related transaction materials.
• Assist attorneys with litigation matters, including drafting pleadings and discovery requests/responses.
• Electronically file court documents.
• Conduct document review and manage discovery materials.
• Prepare exhibits for depositions, motions, hearings, and trials.
• Cite-check briefs and maintain organized litigation files.
• Work cross-functionally to address contract-related questions and resolve issues.
• Assist with improving contract management policies, procedures, and systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or other college degree required.
• Minimum 3 years of professional paralegal experience .
• Experience must be within a private law firm or corporate legal department .
• Strong document preparation, proofreading, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other legal professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with franchise law, franchise registrations, or Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) .
• Paralegal certificate.
• Transactional and/or corporate legal experience.
• Litigation support experience.
• Experience communicating with government or regulatory agencies.

Candidates may be asked to complete skills testing as part of the hiring process.

Compensation & Schedule

• $30-$40 per hour
• Overtime eligible
• Full-time schedule
• Monday-Friday
• Approximately 8:30 AM-5:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Temp-to-hire opportunity
• 100% on-site for the first six months
• Potential for up to two remote days per week after six months , based on performance, productivity, and demonstrated job knowledge

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced paralegal who is comfortable handling a diverse workload spanning transactional, regulatory, corporate, contract, and litigation matters . Franchise experience would be a strong advantage, but candidates with solid law firm or corporate legal department experience who can quickly learn franchise-related processes are encouraged to apply.
