Quality Assurance Technician

Overview Perform tasks related to the testing of products, setting of samples, and following through on quality assurance programs. Test and inspect products at various stages of the batching and production process. Compile and evaluate data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Use gauges and other devices to verify conformity to standards of products being tested. Work with a high degree of accuracy to produce valid test results in a timely manner and ensure products are produced and distributed to food safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Efficiently and accurately perform tasks related to testing of products, setting of samples, and follow-through on Quality Assurance programs. Familiarity with all applicable equipment and provide quality inspections on related items. Perform microbiological and chemical testing of finished products, raw materials and associated items as required. Involve in product weight control, lab equipment maintenance and calibration, and lab sanitation. Maintain communication with other departments to notify them of any problems or concerns that may affect production efficiency. Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Adhere to food safety and quality system requirements by meeting applicable regulatory, customer, and SQF requirements. Ensure paperwork is filled out clearly, legibly, and accurately, with information documented per SOPs. Identify opportunities to improve processes using a continuous improvement mindset. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area. Follow all required work safety practices, including wearing PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, and fall restraints. Manage food safety, prerequisite programs, and food quality for the designated area; report issues to management immediately. Perform other duties as assigned. Compensation and Schedule Hourly Rate: $31.96 plus shift premium. Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (hours may vary). This position provides coverage during vacations taken by other lab technicians. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. 2 years related experience required. Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and convert measures. Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred. Ability to flavor dairy products, ice cream, and frozen desserts. Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel and bend for the majority of the shift; ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, including overhead. Ability to work in a wet environment and exposure to chemicals and nut allergens. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Able to read, write, and speak English. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with laboratory equipment and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to understand calculations used in laboratory analysis and follow laboratory procedures. Record-keeping skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork; ability to share information promptly. Problem-solving, initiative, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
