Position Summary

The Director of Engineering will lead engineering, technical operations, and repair development activities across the organization while supporting continued company growth. This individual will oversee engineering processes, mentor and develop technical talent, improve operational execution, and serve as a key technical leader for both customers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in gas turbines or rotating equipment with a practical, team-oriented leadership style. This role requires someone comfortable moving between customer meetings, engineering reviews, production support, vendor discussions, outage planning, and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced repair and manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering teams supporting gas turbine component repair, manufacturing, and technical operations.
• Build scalable engineering processes, procedures, and technical standards to support company growth.
• Work directly with production, quality, operations, and customers to resolve technical and operational challenges.
• Provide technical oversight for repair development, manufacturing processes, work scopes, drawings, procedures, and repair documentation.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions involving turbine and rotating equipment components.
• Drive accountability, communication, and collaboration across engineering and production teams.
• Mentor engineers and technical personnel while helping recruit and build high-performing teams.
• Support customer-facing technical discussions, outage planning, quarterly reviews, and project execution activities.
• Assist with strategic growth initiatives, capability development, capital equipment planning, and operational improvements.
• Review repair methods, coatings, brazing, welding, machining, metallurgy, and component restoration processes.
• Partner closely with quality and operations teams to improve throughput, consistency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Help establish and maintain quality-driven engineering processes aligned with ISO, customer, and industry expectations.
• Support vendor management, subcontractor oversight, and technical supplier relationships.
• Champion a culture of ownership, urgency, teamwork, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 7-10+ years of experience within gas turbines, turbomachinery, rotating equipment, power generation, or industrial repair/manufacturing environments.
• Prior engineering leadership experience within a repair shop, manufacturing, service, or operations-focused environment.
• Strong understanding of gas turbine repair processes, rotating equipment, manufacturing methods, and production operations.
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical projects and cross-functional operational teams.
• Ability to lead both strategically and tactically in a fast-moving growth environment.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working directly in both office and shop-floor environments.

Preferred Experience

• Industrial gas turbine repair and component restoration
• Turbine blades/buckets, fuel nozzles, coatings, brazing, welding, or metallurgy
• ISO 9001 or quality systems familiarity
• Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement
• ERP systems and production tracking systems
• PE-backed or fast-growth industrial environments
• Outage support and field service operations
