Technology and Innovation Policy Internship – Fall 2026 – PAID | American Action Forum The Tone This is an internship at American Action Forum, located in Washington, DC. The American Action Forum is a forward‑looking, non‑profit policy institute dedicated to keeping America strong, free, and prosperous. This role helps promote common‑sense, solutions‑based policies that will reform government, challenge outdated assumptions, and create a smaller, smarter government. As an “action” tank, the organization uses modern communication tools to engage Americans and educate the media on government policy, personal freedoms, and market incentives. TL;DR Role: Internship Type: Part‑time Location: In‑person, Washington, DC Team: Reports directly to the Director of Technology and Innovation Policy Mission: Provide essential research and policy analysis support for telecommunications, social media, and AI policy, contributing to the development of common‑sense policy solutions. Tech Stack: WestLaw, Lexis What You’ll Actually Do Research Assistance: Provide research assistance and data collection for the issue area director on telecommunications, social media, and AI policy topics. Policy Analysis & Writing: Research and author policy primers or blogs on current privacy laws, telecommunication policy, and regulatory reform efforts. Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report on current court cases and technology legislation, and provide research support for regulatory comments. Event Engagement: Attend Capitol Hill hearings, private speaker events, and other DC think tank events, analyzing and reporting on information presented. Work Presentation: Create a portfolio of completed work and deliver a brief presentation on a policy topic of choice at the Forum. The Must‑Haves Background: Student with a demonstrated interest in technology issues and the politics and policies of center‑right conservatives. Experience: Prior experience conducting legal research using databases such as WestLaw or Lexis. Skills: Excellent writing ability, strong communication skills, and a self‑starting attitude.
