Senior Power and Controls EngineerContract: 12 months or longerLocation: Houston, TX (some travel possible)What your impact looks likeYou will be the technical lead overseeing electrical and controls design for expansion and maintenance capital projects delivered by third‑party engineering partners. You will ensure alignment with Company standards, industry codes, and project budgets and schedules while partnering closely with Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services.Day-to-day responsibilitiesOwn the performance of your assigned project area and its corporate financial impact.Coordinate and direct technical resources and external partners to implement practical, reliable solutions.Define and refine scope, schedule, capital estimates, execution plans, risk profiles, and supporting documentation for facility projects.Manage third‑party design deliverables against approved budgets and timelines.Review and approve drawings, technical reports, and material lists.Evaluate vendor quotes, produce technical assessments, and recommend selections on items such as turbine/compressor packages, equipment vessels, buildings, pipe, valves, and fittings.Provide field technical support through construction and commissioning.Capture lessons learned and fold them into future designs.Mentor junior engineers and lead departmental initiatives.Confirm that scopes comply with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements via cross‑functional coordination.What you bringBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.7+ years of progressively responsible engineering and project management experience.Technical depth across120/208 V systems: lighting panels, lighting, and convenience outlets.480 V systems: MCCs/motor starters, motors, power panels, transformers, automatic transfer switches, generators.4160 V systems: switchgear, motor starters, synchronous motors, circuit breakers, relaying, metering.Cable/conduit sizing; starter/overload sizing; grounding; cathodic protection.PLC‑based control systems (Allen‑Bradley or equivalent), motor control circuits, electric/pneumatic valve actuators, PID loop controllers, Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).Instrumentation: smart and analog transmitters (e.g., Rosemount, Honeywell), pneumatic gauges, and pressure/differential pressure/temperature transmitters.Our safety promiseIf you are as committed to your success as we are committed to your safety, then this is the position for you!
