Title IX Coordinator and Compliance Officer Job Summary Under the general direction of the Human Resources Director, the Title IX Coordinator and Compliance Officer serves as a primary resource for faculty, staff, and student rights and responsibilities. The officer provides oversight in the areas of Title IX issues and peer training for staff, faculty, and administrators at Kentucky State University. The officer will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating Title IX investigations, responses, and resolutions to complaints. Responsibilities Develop, oversee and maintain processes for receiving all Title IX complaints and reports of sexual harassment, violence, and other misconduct. Keep affected parties apprised of the status of complaints. Ensure investigations of reports are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential and impartial. Manage cases in compliance with Title IX and Clery requirements. Work with investigators on proposed sanctions for sexual misconduct to ensure they are equitable and preventive. Collaborate with the KSU General Counsel as the institutional custodian and/or custodian of record of all Title IX, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct and related retaliation records; safeguard confidentiality. Work collaboratively with Title IX staff to ensure consistent communication in policy implementation and provide oversight of investigations and grievance procedures. Provide educational programs on discrimination and sexual harassment prevention; prepare and disseminate brochures, posters and web-based materials informing the campus community of Title IX rights and responsibilities. Deliver training to college constituents to promote knowledge of institutional policies and federal/state standards. Collaborate with other departments to ensure Title IX policy is communicated to all constituencies and strengthen a safe and respectful campus culture. Essential Job Functions Monitor, audit, and oversee compliance of University policies and procedures to satisfy federal and/or state obligations (Title IX, VAWA, Campus Safe Act, ADA, Section 504, Clery, OSHA, Title VII). Monitor policy and standards related to environmental, health and safety matters for all faculty, staff and students; serve as a resource for these matters. Recommend solutions to identified compliance exposure and review implementation when applicable. Act as the Operational Guide repository, facilitating approved changes and communicating updates. Work closely with the General Counsel’s office, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Athletics and Campus Police. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Oversee employees and investigative processes, review writing to ensure a high-quality product. Maintain neutrality and work under stress. Strong interpersonal skills; listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Work as part of a University-wide community to resolve complaints in a neutral and sensitive manner. Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with staff at all levels. Read and interpret complex legal documents to evaluate their impact on University policy and procedures. Recommend solutions to compliance exposure and review implementation, when applicable. Supervisory Responsibility This position has supervisory responsibility. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Work is normally performed in a typical interior and/or office work environment. No or very limited physical effort or exposure to physical risk is required. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field combined with at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership roles in higher education or related fields, and experience training and developing staff.
