High School Counselor Starting Date: Aug 20, 2026 Position Type: Full-time Job Description School Counselor Job Description Unit A Position (184 days, with the possibility of 5 additional days before school year, and 5 additional days at end of school year for total of 194 days) Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions (classroom lessons, individual and small group counseling) per special education requirements, 504 plans or demonstrated need based on data with a focus on skills building. Plan, organize, and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program in classrooms, small groups, and individually. These lessons will address academic, career and social/emotional domains, to ensure all students participate in post‑secondary planning that focuses on goal development. Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in establishing support for students in need and in understanding the physical, social, emotional and psychological factors that strengthen or detract from a student’s academic achievement. Support the implementation of restorative and relationship centered learning practices including but not limited to student‑to‑student mediations, student‑to‑staff mediations, and community building circles. Provide classroom push‑in support as requested by staff or administrators that supports the implementation of a high‑expectations learning environment. Support students in selecting courses/pathways that align with their goals. Ensure that all students have complete schedules. Conduct risk assessments with students, consult with community emergency services providers and refer students for evaluation as needed. Communicate regularly with and work collaboratively with families of students receiving services. Consult and coordinate with community service providers when appropriate. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings. Participate as a member of the school PBIS and MTSS teams. Meet documentation requirements pertaining to IEP’s, mandated reporting, and college applications. Attend professional development opportunities to maintain a high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
