Job Title: Physician - Admissions - Hourly (Part-Time) - GRHS

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking a physician for the position of Physician - Admissions - Hourly (Part-Time) at Georgia Regional Hospital – Savannah (GRHS). This role involves providing comprehensive medical services, supervising staff, and coordinating with various healthcare providers.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions, and providing treatments. Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of patients. Supervising staff including physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary. Advises patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention. Coordinates work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers. Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. Examines patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. In the EMR system, completes all orders and documents all evaluations, notes treatment, and plans within prescribed time frames and according to established guidelines. Consults with referring M.D. as needed. Provides emergency medical care. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) AND licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law. Physician must be Board Eligible.
• This position requires the successful candidate to have a license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.

Preferred qualifications:

• Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Experience in treating persons with serious and persistent medical illnesses, and in providing care as leader and member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Experience working with consumers in adult mental health, addictive disease, and forensic psychiatry.
