Radiology Technologist Student - The Christ College Students - Part Time - Varies

Job Description Assists licensed and registered technologist in their duties to perform routine radiographs as allowed by law to facilitate the flow of patients and create an efficient working environment. Responsibilities Assists credentialed technologist in performing studies per physician order and greets patients and guests in an appropriate manner, adhering to all hospital and department policies and standards. Identifies the correct patient and procedure: asks the patient to verify name and date of birth, then compares the control sheet with the order. Obtains appropriate information from patients, including completion of any safety forms (CT, contrast, MR, consents). Transports patients from the ER exam room or waiting room to the department. Assists patients on and off the table and helps technologists position patients for the exam. Moves x‑ray equipment to assist the technologist: adjusts the table and moves portable equipment as needed. If working in a non‑RGE area, performs studies under the direct supervision of the credentialed technologist within the scope and abilities of the student, demonstrating competency before performing studies with indirect supervision. If working in an area with RGE and the student passes the state license test as a GXMO, performs general radiography routine exams within the limits of the law, proven competency, and under the general indirect supervision of the licensed registered technologist. Tracks completed exams in the Radiology Information Computer System and checks the open orders list before the end of their shift, completing any open orders. Maintains assigned work areas neat, clean, and well stocked. Protects the safety of all patients, guests, and employees following established hospital or department policies and regulatory agency requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Health, HIPAA). Has knowledge of and can perform front‑desk operations and computer systems: schedules all exams, alerts the supervisor when necessary, uses the centralized transport program for patient transport, documents times and additional comments, looks up pertinent information in the computer systems (ordering, reprinting, canceling), answers phones, and directs calls to the floor or ER to keep efficient patient flow. Performs other duties as directed: assists in the imaging library (burns images to a CD, looks up patient information, answers phones), transports in‑house patients following the department’s guidelines, reports any problems to a manager, and completes any other duties needed depending on the business of the imaging area. Other duties as directed (e.g., QA processes to insure data is correct, conduct retrospective reviews for education, research, or regulatory compliance). Access to Patient Records Access to patient records in the course of normal operations to conduct the business of medical imaging is a responsibility of all designated personnel. Access of records is limited only to records that are pertinent to the patient’s care or regulatory requirements and only occurs when necessary to carry out duties as part of the imaging team. Confidentiality and protection of all records is the responsibility of each individual. Qualifications Education: Actively participating in an AMA‑approved training program for RTS or ARRT‑accredited Radiologic Technology school or other related Allied Health Program (Ultrasound or MRI). Years of Experience: – Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures. Computer skills to include word processing and ability to look up and input data. Licenses & Certifications: Employee must be enrolled in an approved imaging program that they will be eligible for or hold a valid Ohio license upon graduation if working in an area with RGE.
