Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist

An experienced Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist will lead hiring for our skilled trades and field workforce across 19 states and guide every new hire from offer through their first 90 days. This role is ideal for a recruiter who enjoys the challenge of hard-to-fill markets and takes pride in giving new employees an organized, welcoming start.

Rate: $21.00 – $26.00/hour

Role Expectations

• Full-Cycle Field Recruiting: Manage the hiring process from start to finish for skilled trades and field roles, including job postings, sourcing, phone screens, coordinating interviews with field leadership, and extending offers within approved guidelines.
• Pipeline Building in Hard-to-Fill Markets: Build relationships with trade schools, career and technical education programs, community colleges, apprenticeship and workforce organizations, and veterans' programs. Maintain a bench of pre-screened candidates so we're ready when projects need people.
• Candidate Screening: Verify trade experience, certifications, and licenses. Our crews travel from job to job within a regional area of their state, so you'll clearly explain travel expectations and pay practices and confirm candidates are comfortable with the work before an offer is made.
• Job Advertising & Posting Compliance: Assist with writing and posting job ads on job boards, trade-specific sites, and social media, and manage sponsored postings. Make sure every posting includes pay ranges where state law requires it.
• Employee Referrals & Recruiting Events: Promote RSC's employee referral program with field crews and attend job fairs, school visits, and community hiring events. Some minimal travel could be required.
• Office & Administrative Hiring: Recruit for office and administrative roles, and support the Director of Talent.
• Hiring Manager Partnership: Hold intake meetings with managers to understand staffing needs, project timelines, and what a great hire looks like for each role.
• Pre-Employment & Offer-to-Start: Coordinate background checks and drug screens, confirm start dates, send welcome communications, and make sure each new hire receives the correct state-specific onboarding documents in UKG.
• Orientation Coordination: Schedule and coordinate the 4-day remote orientation for field employees and the 1-day in-office orientation for office employees, including trainers, virtual sessions, attendance, and training completion records.
• Compliance & Verification: Process and verify employment eligibility documents, including Form I-9, accurately and on time.
• New Hire Check-Ins: Check in with new hires at 30, 60, and 90 days, and use what you learn to improve both recruiting and onboarding.
• Metrics & Data: Keep candidate and new hire records accurate in UKG and report on time-to-fill, source effectiveness, offer acceptance, and 90-day retention.

Preferred Experience / Education

• 2–4 years of recruiting experience, ideally in skilled trades, construction, or other high-volume field hiring.
• Onboarding or HR coordination experience is a strong plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Confident, persuasive phone presence and a persistent, proactive approach to sourcing
• Strong attention to detail, especially with onboarding documents and compliance steps
• Ability to manage many open positions across multiple markets while keeping new hires on track
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adjust your style for candidates, new hires, and managers
• Experience with LinkedIn, Indeed, and other sourcing tools
• Experience with UKG or a similar HRIS/ATS is preferred
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Willingness to travel occasionally for recruiting events
