Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Nights

Overview Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the team on our Labor and Delivery floor. Full-time position with a 12-hour night shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am, 36 hours per week). Schedule includes every other weekend and rotating holidays. The Labor and Delivery unit serves Wilmington and Northern New Castle County and consists of nine beds. We care for various types of patients, including high-risk pregnancies and complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, preterm labor, and multiple births. All Registered Nurses are trained to scrub and circulate for C-sections and have phlebotomy and IV-initiation skills. We have 24/7 anesthesia and OB availability, and we employ evidence-based initiatives such as a preterm labor assessment tool, prevention of primary C-sections, and management of severe hypertension in pregnancy. Responsibilities Complete a comprehensive assessment of women during the ante-partum period experiencing complications of pregnancy, including preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, pregnancy-induced hypertension, diabetes, bleeding, and infection. Complete a comprehensive perinatal nursing assessment on pregnant women admitted to the labor-delivery-recovery unit on admission. Assess the woman’s educational needs during the intrapartum period and provide appropriate information to the woman and her family. Plan and deliver care to women who experience labor and birth without complications. Plan and deliver care to women with perinatal and/or medical complications, including pregnancy-induced hypertension, preterm labor, bleeding in pregnancy, and multiple gestations. Provide supportive care to the woman and her family in situations involving fetal loss or fetal abnormalities. Plan and deliver care to women who labor without analgesia/anesthesia. Minimum Qualifications Current licensed RN in the State of Delaware or a valid temporary permit. BSN preferred. BLS required; NRP within (6) months of employment. At least 2-3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery. RNC preferred. Ability to scrub and circulate for C-sections. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage (effective first day of hire).
