Medical Assistant-Charlie Mitchell - Full-time/Days

About Us:
The Charlie Mitchell Children's Center is part of a Rural Health Center offering family-focused primary care to children up to age 21 with acute and chronic medical conditions. The clinic is located on the Valley Children's main campus in Madera. Doctors at the clinic also treat patients' siblings so that brothers and sisters can all receive medical care from the same practice. We bring an interdisciplinary approach to patient care; in addition to board-certified pediatricians, the practice is staffed with nurses, phlebotomists, a pharmacist, a case manager and a social worker.


Clinical psychologists and Child Life specialists are available by referral. The interdisciplinary plan includes management of care, ordering of tests, immunizations, administration of medication, scheduling and follow-up of appointments, specimen collection and processing, and coordination and/or referral of appointments for other subspecialists and allied health professionals. Language needs are addressed by bilingual staff and hospital interpreters.


Job Summary:
Accountable for basic clerical and technical supportive services within a defined scope of practice under the direction of a licensed physician or surgeon. The multi-skilled employee who partners with providers and clinic staff to provide ongoing support services to maximize efficiency while ensuring optimal patient/family experience. Welcomes/rooms patient and family in a timely efficient manner and collects patient information and vital signs specific to the practice setting (medical history, medication usage, etc). Effectively utilizes Valley Children's Healthcare systems, software and modules effectively to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information in a precise, clear manner. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented and efficient patient care.
Qualifications:

Education

• High School Diploma (required)
• Program Medical Assistant or equivalent program (required) Or
• Equivalent In a healthcare environment as a Medical Assistant or other patient care role (required)

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
• CPT-I - Certified Phlebotomy Technician I - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required) Or
• CPT-II - Certified Phlebotomy Technician II - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required)
• MA (preferred)

Work Experience

• Minimum six (6) months In a health care environment providing direct care (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

• Bilingual Skills Preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
  Medical terminology skills preferred.

$24.60 - $34.05
