Additional Information This is a CTE teacher position and requires a valid Washington State CTE teaching certificate endorsed in Family and Consumer Sciences/Culinary and additional endorsements as needed. CTE teacher certification and maintenance of a current CPR/First Aid/AED card are required and a condition of employment. If you do not currently hold a valid certificate and are offered the position, you are expected to enroll and complete the required course of study for CTE teacher certification within 2 years at an approximate cost of $3,000. Examples of Duties This position plans, organizes, and provides students with appropriate learning activities, experiences, and a classroom environment designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; supports the school, building, board, district, and state curriculum, policies, and initiatives for student achievement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops, plans, and strategizes a program of study that meets student learning needs, interests, and abilities; creates a conducive learning environment; employs varied instructional techniques and media. Assesses student growth, provides progress reports, issues grades, refers students for evaluation, and offers guidance to promote welfare, education, and citizenship. Implements pedagogical content knowledge, instruction, action, and support to align with district educational goals; assists administration with policy implementation; develops classroom rules and encourages standards. Prepares lesson plans, shows written evidence of preparation, provides differentiated instruction and scaffolding, manages learning time, and aligns instructional materials and objectives. Maintains open communication with students, parents, colleagues, and community; schedules conferences and meetings; interprets program rationale and developmental progress. Maintains accurate records, utilizes formative and summative data to inform instruction, evaluates learning outcomes, and uses state-approved growth rubrics. Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities; supervises students during lunch, hallways, on school grounds, and in district-sanctioned programs; utilizes community resources to enhance learning.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

Participates in professional development to improve competence and success. Attends staff meetings, serves on committees, supervises para educators, and provides guidance to staff. Builds collegial relationships, collaborates with peers and administrators, supports policy compliance, and assists in developing new teachers. Updates files on curriculum guides and adapts instructional plans accordingly. Performs related duties as assigned on a temporary basis. Maintains regular, reliable attendance as an essential job requirement.

CONDITIONS

Work is confined to the assigned area; substitutes or leave must be secured at designated breaks; may require defusing difficult situations and traveling in inclement weather; may be exposed to high noise levels; may need to lift up to 20 pounds and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, squatting, or twisting. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement; or a combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Licenses / Special Requirements Valid Washington State teaching certificate. Completion of all district-required trainings. Fingerprints and successful Washington State and FBI background clearance.
