PRN Position In Clinic Outpatient Pharmacy
This is a PRN position in a clinic outpatient pharmacy. The pharmacy's hours are M-F 8a-5p. No weekends, no holidays.
Position General Summary
This position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations and patient care. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
The Outpatient Pharmacist is responsible for providing medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for appropriate patient care in accordance with professional standards of practice. Additionally, the Outpatient Pharmacist will assist the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager with additional tasks as required. The Outpatient Pharmacist will be responsible for outpatient medication and device education when appropriate.
Facility General Responsibilities
Attend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HR
Complete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire date
Complete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire date
Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds
Follow HIPAA regulations at all times
Be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts
Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility
Identifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID bracelet
Follows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and procedures
Must interact with physicians, guest, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Demonstrates skill in communication, conflict resolution and human relations.
2. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
3. Must exhibit a team approach.
4. Must be knowledgeable of fiscal, general healthcare issues, trends, quality management and other aspects of Pharmaceutical practice and standards.
5. Must be proficient in both oral and written communication.
Position Requirements: Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Certifications
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
The Outpatient Pharmacist must have a minimum of one year of retail or community pharmacy experience, or equivalent as determined by the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager.
Current Tennessee Pharmacy License
Current Tennessee Controlled Substance Qualification Endorsement
Working Conditions
The position requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and lifting. The Pharmacist must be able to see with corrective eye wear. The Pharmacist must be able to hear clearly with assistance. The Pharmacist may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases and may be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. The Pharmacist must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations. The Pharmacist may be occasionally subject to irregular hours. The Pharmacist may be required to wear protective equipment as necessary.
