The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing their school as a high-quality, high-expectation academic center focusing on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results. CMSD ensures that students have access to technology and training to prepare them for the future. The District provides a free laptop or tablet for every student and connects every family that needs internet access. Graduating seniors leave commencement with not only a diploma but also a laptop. In our pursuit of a more fair, just, and good system of education, we strive to ensure that all of our learners, both scholars and educators, to be challenged with academically and intellectually complex tasks that are worthy of their efforts and provide them opportunities to demonstrate their best work.**BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES**The Cleveland Board of Education adopted the Building Brighter Futures (BBF) initiative on December 9, 2025. Building Brighter Futures is a strategic and data-driven plan shaped by more than a year of community engagement, information analysis, and thoughtful deliberation. The goal of this plan is to strengthen enrollment and ensure scholars attend a newer school building that offers more educational opportunities, including algebra in the eighth grade, more sports and extracurricular activities, and college credits and college and career pathways in high school. BBF is ensuring academic excellence so every CMSD scholar can thrive. **THE OPPORTUNITY:**Location: Administration or As Assigned Reports to: Executive Director, Multilingual and Multicultural FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Band: 7 Compensation: $ 68,891.00 - $ 93,003.00 The Multicultural/Multilingual Program Manager leads to improve the District’s Multilingual Multicultural Education programs and services to support the District’s goal of every student can achieve. The Multilingual Manager supports a comprehensive program of school-based programs, stakeholders, and bring community partners and the District together to achieve this goal.**Responsibilities*** Assists the Executive Director in coordinating the development and selection of multilingual multicultural curriculum resources and supplemental materials* Provides classroom support to teachers in core subjects and English as a Second Language* Assists the Executive Director in organizing and providing professional development opportunities for District staff based on current research on ESL best practices, assessments, and strategies for ELL’s and modeling of effective instruction to build capacity and support schools with delivery of classroom instruction appropriate for second language learners* Leads conversations and processes that engage principals and teachers to use all available data, including ELL student achievement data, ESL curriculum, lesson plans, ESL and second language learning teaching strategies, and other benchmark data that affect ELL student achievement in order to define the joint work of the school* Holds daily coaching sessions with school staff* Identifies specific principal, teacher and student needs and assists in the development of customized curriculum and teacher professional development to build capacity and a culture of collaborative support* Assists school staff in all academic aspects and documents and progresses monitor coaching sessions* Be active and visible in schools to provide support* Assists in the supports schools and District initiatives in providing quality ESL and Bilingual instructional services* Assists schools in ensuring compliance with District, state and federal mandates for the education of English Language Learners* Assists in the interpretation of program services and state and federal guidelines and procedures for the education of English Language learners to staff, parents and community* Conducts and models effective instruction for teachers and paraprofessionals to build capacity and support schools with delivery of classroom instruction appropriate for second language learners* Assist in the use of relevant, research based ESL instructional practices to analyze and make data driven decisions and recommend areas for discussion in the service of identifying areas for improvement* Assists with the review and analysis interpretation of assessment data, instructional and programmatic services in order to make appropriate decisions relative to students' needs* Interprets program and procedures guidelines to school staff well as the state’s criteria for entrance, exit, and reclassification data* Must be Bilingual and Biliterate in a language other than English* Performs additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Multilingual Multicultural Education.**JOB QUALIFICATIONS*** Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s preferred* TESOL and/or Bilingual Multicultural Endorsement and/or degree from any state or US Territory* At least 5 years of experience as an ESL Teacher, Bilingual/TESOL Teacher, Language Teacher, or Administrator**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*** Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment* Ability to produce, analyze, interpret and summarize data* Ability to interpret policy and procedures* Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing**QUALIFICATIONS*** A strong commitment to the students in CMSD and a personal sense of accountability around the ultimate success of the CMSD transformation* Deep knowledge of the issues and dynamics of inequity in education and passion for CMSD's mission* Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of teachers of English Language Learners* Ability to provide objective feedback on special education programming, compliance, and implementation* Understanding of Charlotte Danielson's framework of professional practice* Knowledge of laws relevant to English Language Learners* Proven experience working collaboratively in a team oriented environment* Results driven, with excellent planning and organizing skills* Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written* Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience leveraging staff and developing talent* Successful with overcoming significant barriers to meet goals in a fast-paced and changeable environment* Able to critically assess challenges and identify flexible, effective solutions* Ability to perform multifaceted tasks with minimum supervision* Regular travel to schools required; must have reliable transportation# **WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS**The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of this position.
