Job Summary The CMM Programmer develops coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programs, performs first–piece and in–process inspections of parts, analyzes inspection data for compliance, and maintains CMM work instructions and inspection documentation. The role interprets blueprints and utilizes precision measuring equipment, works independently with minimal supervision, and may assist in training other personnel. Job Responsibilities Performs first–piece, in–process, and final inspection for quality, appearance, and performance of complex parts and assemblies. Prepares detailed first article inspection reports for first‑time builds and repeat parts or part families. Plans inspection techniques for first‑time builds and devises unusual measuring or gaging setups when required. Measures layout and physical dimensions of machined parts, castings, jigs, fixtures, and templates—length, height, inside diameter, outside diameter, concentricity, angle, arc, and radii—using precision instruments. Checks color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density, and other measurable or observable characteristics of materials or parts. Verifies correct gage usage during in‑process inspection and ensures sampling plans are complete before release to shipping. Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments and devices including manual and automated CMMs and vision systems. Validates measurement strategy, nominal tolerances, and inspection results. Reviews findings with machinists and/or quality managers. Provides technical and application support to basic and advanced operators. Loads and proves existing offline CNC inspection programs. Sets up workpieces per approved setup information, executes CNC inspection program, and performs necessary manual inspections. Handles boot‑up and shutdown of CMM hardware and software. Performs CMM preventive maintenance and validates required stylus systems. Develops basic inspection programs using customer requirements and ASME Y14.5‑2009 GD&T standards and guidelines. Adheres to company quality policy and follows all applicable quality work instructions and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High school education or equivalent is required. Minimum 5 years of CMM programming experience. Qualifications Knowledge of appropriate inspection techniques and equipment usage. Advanced blueprint‑reading skills. Advanced knowledge of GD&T. Computer skills, including Excel and Word.
