RN Job Requirements (Med/Surg)

• Experience: Med/Surg or closely related acute-care experience preferred (newer RNs with strong acute-care fundamentals are encouraged to apply)
• License: Active RN license (New Jersey RN license or compact license, as applicable)
• Clinical Skills: Strong assessment skills, prioritization/time management, patient and family education, and ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Teamwork: Clear, collaborative communication with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
• Availability: Able to work 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts/week for the full 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) patients, including ongoing assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor therapeutic response and adverse effects, and escalate changes in patient condition promptly
• Perform and document head-to-toe assessments, vital signs, intake/output, wound care, and post-procedure monitoring per unit standards
• Coordinate patient-centered care with providers, case management, therapy services, and ancillary departments to support safe transitions and timely discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care to support recovery and reduce readmissions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and support unit quality, safety, and infection prevention initiatives
