PrideStaff is currently seeking a qualified and dependable Shipping Clerk for a distribution company located in Romeoville, IL. This is a temp-to-hire position.

1ST SHIFT 6:00AM-2:00PM M-F PLUS SATURDAYS & OT AS REQUIRED $20.00 PER HOUR

Position Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for supporting daily shipping operations by ensuring accurate order processing, preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and facilitating driver check-in procedures. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and proficiency with computer systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify customer orders for accuracy prior to shipment
• Prepare, process, and maintain shipping documents, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and carrier paperwork
• Coordinate with transportation providers and carriers regarding pickups, deliveries, and shipment status
• Answer incoming calls and proactively communicate with carriers, drivers, and internal departments
• Manage the driver check-in and check-out process, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with facility procedures
• Monitor shipping schedules and assist with resolving shipment discrepancies or delays
• Maintain accurate records and data entry within company systems
• Communicate professionally through email and phone with internal and external stakeholders
• Support warehouse and distribution center operations as needed
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED for permanent employment
• Previous experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, warehouse administration, or distribution center operations
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• PC proficiency and general computer literacy
• Professional email communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to maintain accuracy while working under deadlines
• Effective interpersonal communication skills with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams
• Ability to identify and resolve shipping-related issues
• MUST be available for overtime (staying late and/or working Saturdays)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using SAP or other Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Previous experience working with shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs)
• Experience communicating and coordinating with transportation carriers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as required
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in an environment located within a warehouse or distribution center setting
