Mammography Supervisor

Title: Mammography Supervisor Responsibilities: Assists with staffing, scheduling, charge reconciliation, MQSA preparation, EQUIP, and technician education. Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (hours may vary based on unit needs); Saturday occasionally required. Setting: 4 mammography rooms, 1 bone density room, 2 ultrasound rooms. Required Certifications: ARRT – M, BLS. Required Experience: 5 years as a Mammography Tech; Supervisor experience or 2 years as Lead Tech preferred. Job Summary The Supervisor, Multimodality is responsible for supervising, planning, organizing, and improving work processes in the various sections of Radiology Services. This position performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff, and performs imaging exams across multiple modalities such as CT, MR, or Rad. The Supervisor also acts as a department liaison in the absence of a manager. Essential Functions Of The Role Oversees the delivery and quality of imaging services with respect to turnaround times, exam quality and patient preparation, ensuring compliance with system and regulatory standards and policies. Performs procedures as needed based on workload or complexity. Ensures adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources to meet clinical demand. Schedules, monitors, evaluates, and modifies staffing patterns to properly provide services in assigned areas. Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations. Trains new staff and ensures registrations and certifications are current, on file, and up to date. Collaborates with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings for consistent communication throughout the department. Facilitates goal setting for staff, monitors progress, and ensures goal outcomes are reflected in annual performance evaluations. Encourages employee participation in satisfaction surveys and other service feedback activities, initiating action plans for improvement. Collaborates with Management to develop a departmental budget, provide feedback on new and replacement equipment, monitor operational budgets, and implement corrective action plans for variances. Promotes a culture of service excellence by communicating expectations and customer satisfaction survey results, holding self and staff accountable, and facilitating reward and recognition within Radiology. Acts as a Radiology liaison to other departments, developing cooperative relationships with physicians and other medical departments to exchange information and implement solutions to problems. Assists in developing, reviewing, revising, submitting, and implementing policies and procedures that support Department and System objectives. Assists in ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Texas Department of Health (TDH), and other accrediting bodies. Identifies patient service requirements using AIDET, establishes rapport, and ensures correct exam assignment. Coordinates and leads groups focusing on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, environment of care, employee and physician engagement, quality improvement, and inter-departmental relations. Participates in shared governance and professional organizations, including LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, QC assurance with radiologist, etc. Key Success Factors Able to perform high‑quality advanced imaging procedures according to protocol and regulatory standards in a timely manner and explain the procedure to patients. Able to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, staying professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores, and developing action plans when required. Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric care. Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives. Able to make tactical decisions regarding allocation and direction of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations. Able to train and evaluate performance of supervised staff. General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Able to take call if required. Certification / License / Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS); Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT); American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT); ARRT‑BS Breast Sonography; ARRT‑CI Cardiac‑Interventional; ARRT‑CT Computed Tomography; ARRT‑CV Cardiovasc‑Inter Rad; ARRT‑M Mammography; ARRT‑MR Magnetic Resonance Imaging; ARRT‑N Nuclear Medicine Tech; ARRT‑R Radiography; ARRT‑S Sonography; ARRT‑VI Interventional Rad; Cert Nuclear Med Tech (CNMT); Computed Tomography (NMTB‑CT); and other modalities as indicated. Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI and Ultrasound. Radiation Safety (NMTB‑RS), Nuclear Cardiology Tech (NMTC‑NCT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Reg Diag Med Sono‑Abdomen (AB) (RDMS‑AB), Reg Diag Med Sono‑Breast (BR) (RDMS‑BR), RDMS Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS‑FE), Reg Diag Med Sono‑OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS‑OB), RDMS‑Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS‑PS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT).
