Manager, Human Factors

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Human Factors Manager to lead usability engineering initiatives for medical device development. The role involves managing human factors teams, conducting user research, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advocating for clinical end-user needs across cross-functional product development teams.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute project-based usability research strategies aligned with organizational initiatives
• Mentor and guide human factors team members in translating design insights into usability requirements
• Plan, forecast, and manage budgets for usability research, testing efforts, and resource allocation
• Lead execution of usability evaluations across product development stages and coordinate international market testing
• Prepare regulatory documentation and support agency submissions and responses

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or related field; Master's degree strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years team management experience in human factors or biomedical devices
• Proven experience in medical device product development within design controls or regulated environments
• Demonstrated expertise in human factors project management and global regulatory submissions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and leadership audiences
• Ability to advocate user-centered design principles and collaborate across engineering, marketing, and regulatory functions
• Willingness to travel internationally 20-30% and comply with vaccination requirements
