Engineer Technician

Engineering TechnicianR&D Interconnect Solutions is seeking an Engineering Technician at our Allentown, PA location. The Engineering Technician will be trained to operate and program production equipment such as pick & place and solder paste reflow equipment as well as measurement instruments, learn CAD/CAM tools, assemble elastomeric product, inspect product, and write and follow standard operating procedures.Job ResponsibilitiesOperate manufacturing equipment: set-up, program, operation, and shutdownRead and interpret work instructions and electronic and printed documents and formsPlan and execute complex development projects in collaboration with engineers and other technicians and analyze resulting dataInspect product using microscope and electronic measurement equipment; identify defects and determine root cause of process related issuesIdentify and segregate Quality related issuesSolder small components onto PCB'sSolder under a microscopePerform reworkEnter data into ERP systemSuggest process improvements and cost reductionsFollow clean room policies, practice 6S principles in order to maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplaceAdhere to all safety rules and regulationsQualificationsFamiliarity with various inspection tools and electronic test/measurement equipmentAbility to solder under a microscopeFamiliarity with SPCMust hold U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident statusPosition requires the ability to stand/walk for more than 50% of the workdayEssential Knowledge and SkillsAbility to comfortably and competently communicate with engineers, technicians and operatorsGood computer skills, fluency with MS Word and ExcelAbility to read, write and clearly communicate in EnglishAbility to read and understand standard operating proceduresAbility to interpret prints and specificationsStrong attention to detail requiredAbility to produce quality work under pressure – in a quick-turn environmentAbility to skillfully utilize a microscopeModerate physical lifting (up to 40 lbs)Experience with electronic component assembly onto circuit boards is a plusEducationAS or BS Degree in an engineering discipline
