Supervisor - Advanced Practice Provider

Responsibilities Essential Functions:

• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations on patients.
• Assists in providing care for patients receiving surgery; writes appropriate orders, including those for perioperative orders, narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs.
• Writes and/or dictates progress notes on patient charts indicating patient status and treatment or procedures performed.
• Performs emergency life-saving procedures in cases such cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, or similar catastrophe.
• Performs daily rounds independently or with attending physicians and/or students.
• Operates with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and generally in a highly specialized area.
• Performs under supervision of medical staff member as an Advanced Practice Provider.
• Supervises various human resources functions, including developing coaching plans and working with Manager, APP on performance counseling, recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of APPs.
• Ensures compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for assigned APPs.
• Monitors/supervises appropriate staffing of APPs to ensure patient care needs are met and budgetary boundaries are observed.
• Leads and participates in departmental and hospital programs, committees, and special projects to achieve desired outcomes.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Acts as a role model and resource person for staff.
• Participates in review and revision of policies and procedures.
• Establishes relationships with professionals of other health-related groups within the community.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families.
• Participates in basic science and clinical research projects.

Qualifications:

• Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program or advanced practice registered nurse program
• Licensure/Certification: Current Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure in State of Florida, renewed every two years. Maintains BLS/Healthcare Provider. ACLS and PALS certifications as required by patient population
• Experience: Three years' experience in a surgical setting as an advanced practice provider for a cardiothoracic surgeon
