Details Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units in a 600-bed facility Specialties covered include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gyn, gu, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant (liver, kidney, and/or vascular) Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights Unit assignments typically last 2-3 weeks, with some assignments given as little as 2 hours before shift start Performs unit-specific procedures including 12-lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring RNs administer nebulizers; ventilators are managed by respiratory therapy Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, with some 8-hour shifts mixed into the schedule Every other weekend and holiday coverage required No on-call responsibilities Floating required across assigned units Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active MA RN license required at time of consideration BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required Minimum 3 years of related RN work experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Level I trauma experience required Epic EMR experience required Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications required Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred Additional Information Assigned to the medical-surgical float pool supporting multiple specialty units Set schedules cannot be guaranteed, though RTO requests are honored No more than three days of RTO permitted, and no holiday RTO approved Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays Must complete pass/fail Tele/ECG and Medication testing Required vaccines include COVID (with booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed Any color scrubs permitted Public transportation available; daily parking can cost up to $43 in Boston Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must complete a 6-month break before returning First-time travelers not considered for this role American Traveler Job ID P-762491.
