Savannah Autoworx is a family-owned and operated independent automotive repair shop serving the Savannah community. We work on a wide range of domestic and Asian-import vehicles , and our approach is simple: provide the same quality of service and care to our customers that we would want for our own families.

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Technician with strong diagnostic ability to join our team.

This is a position for a technician who is confident in their skills, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently while being part of a collaborative team.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a technician who:

• Has professional experience working on domestic and Asian-import vehicles
• Has strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Understands both mechanical and electrical automotive systems
• Can diagnose the root cause of a vehicle concern rather than relying on parts replacement
• Is comfortable researching unfamiliar systems and using available technical resources
• Takes ownership of their work and stands behind the quality of their repairs
• Can work independently while knowing when collaboration is valuable
• Communicates effectively with the owner, service advisor, and other technicians
• Has a professional attitude and takes pride in being part of a team
• Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment
• Has a valid driver’s license and clean driving history , as required by our insurance

We are most interested in demonstrated ability, diagnostic thinking and quality workmanship , rather than simply a specific number of years in the industry.

What You’ll Do

The technician in this role will be responsible for:

• Performing diagnostic inspections and determining the root cause of vehicle concerns
• Diagnosing and repairing domestic and Asian-import vehicles
• Performing mechanical and electrical repairs
• Conducting thorough vehicle inspections
• Using professional diagnostic equipment, scan tools and technical resources
• Researching service procedures and manufacturer information when necessary
• Completing repairs according to manufacturer specifications and shop standards
• Accurately documenting work performed
• Communicating diagnostic findings with the owner or service advisor
• Working collaboratively to develop accurate repair estimates and recommendations
• Maintaining a clean, safe and professional work environment

Diagnostic Autonomy & Team Collaboration

At Savannah Autoworx, technicians are trusted to diagnose vehicles and determine the root cause of problems .

We don’t expect our technicians to simply follow a checklist or replace parts until a problem goes away.

You will have the autonomy to perform diagnostics, research problems and determine appropriate repairs. At the same time, we believe customer communication works best as a team.

The owner or service advisor will work with you to ensure the customer understands the diagnostic process and the costs associated with different types of diagnostic work.

Once a diagnosis is established, the owner or service advisor will assist with:

• Preparing repair estimates
• Communicating findings and recommendations to the customer
• Researching and sourcing necessary parts
• Coordinating parts and repair needs
• Ensuring the customer understands the recommended repair

This allows our technicians to focus on diagnosing and repairing vehicles , while ensuring our customers receive clear and professional communication.

Diagnostic Resources

We invest in providing our technicians with the resources necessary to properly diagnose today’s increasingly complex vehicles.

Technicians have access to:

• Multiple professional-grade diagnostic scan tools
• Specialty diagnostic equipment and tools
• Diagnostic software
• Service information and repair manuals
• Manufacturer service information
• Manufacturer wiring diagrams and system diagrams
• Technical resources for researching unfamiliar systems and diagnostic challenges

Our goal is to provide the resources. We’re looking for the technician who knows how to use them.

Compensation

Our compensation model is designed to provide a dependable hourly foundation while rewarding productivity and labor hours performed.

• $21–$26 per hour base rate , based on experience and demonstrated skill
• Tiered additional compensation based on labor hours performed
• Weekly electronic direct deposit
• Additional compensation opportunities may vary based on an employee’s individual compensation package, including hourly, hybrid, special project or other arrangements
• Voluntary Saturday work is available on many Saturdays for technicians who want an opportunity to increase their compensation

Schedule

Regular shop hours are: Monday–Friday | 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

We also operate on many Saturdays, but Saturday work is voluntary and not appointment-based . Technicians who choose to work Saturdays have an opportunity to complete additional work and increase their weekly compensation.

Paid Holidays & Time Away

Our current paid time-off structure includes:

• 11–13 paid company holidays each year
• Company holidays are intentionally scheduled to create long weekends approximately every 2–3 months
• Two additional floating holidays
• Employees are paid when the business closes unexpectedly for special circumstances

Tools

Technicians in this role are expected to have their own professional toolbox and standard tools appropriate to their experience.

However, we understand that no technician should have to own every specialty tool imaginable.

Our team has a strong culture of sharing tools and resources , and Savannah Autoworx provides specialty tools when appropriate—particularly higher-cost tools that may only be needed occasionally.

A Note About Vehicle Experience

• Our primary workload consists of domestic and Asian-import vehicles .
• Experience with hybrid vehicles is a plus, although specialized hybrid repair experience is not a requirement for this position. Our current hybrid work is primarily limited to light service.
