Travel Interventional Radiology Technologist Location: Urbana, Illinois Employment Type: Travel (13 weeks) Start Date: 06/08/2026 | Hours: 36 per week (12‑hour shifts) | Shift: 12 hours, days Summary The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. The role involves patient and equipment preparation, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring high standards of patient care and safety in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. Responsibilities Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety. Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures. Assist physicians in sterile procedures: scrub in, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile field. Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details. Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions. Ensure radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self. Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness. Manage and restock procedural supplies (catheters, guidewires, contrast agents). Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care. Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols. Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures. Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations. Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist. Valid ARRT, or RCIS/RCES certification in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). Preferred Qualifications Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC). Valid radiologic technologist license in compliance with state regulations. PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification. Any other certifications or licenses relevant to this position. Essential Skills & Physical Requirements Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication. Strong written and verbal English, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend. Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain a positive attitude. Fine manipulation and motor skills for procedures. Handles frequent public interaction, meets deadlines under pressure, works sometimes without assistance. Visual acuity and effective communication.
