District Support Pharmacist, Part-time

Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role by cultivating a culture of excellence, acting as a role model, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team, and resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Support effective management of pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow best practices and protect cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, pursue continuing education, and expand knowledge to better support patients. Support access to care through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception). Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and controlled‑substance dispensing and record‑keeping requirements. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframes. Attention and Focus Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time. Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs. Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Mathematical Reasoning Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense or the day's supply. Problem Resolution Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items. Reach overhead. Move fingers repetitively; pick, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers. Extend hands and arms to place or lift items. Control precision; adjust machines to exact positions. Stoop to a considerable degree requiring use of lower extremities and back muscles. Close visual acuity for transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, or inspecting small parts. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs of force; sometimes lift objects with negligible force. Express or exchange ideas verbally when detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately. Receive detailed information through oral communication. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Time type: Part time. Pay range: $60.00 – $76.00 per hour. The pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
