Work Location: Site - INTEC Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 4x10's Salary Grade : 15 Salary Range- Min $77,635 Mid $99,195 Max $120,755 Salary Grade: 18 Salary Range Min $111,520 Mid $142,945 Max $174,365 Position Purpose: An Industrial safety professional (IS) provides occupational safety and health support to the INTEC-WM project organization, management, and personnel. Serves as advisor/consultant on industrial safety issues for INTEC-WM. Assess operations and line organizations regarding the adequacy of the Industrial Safety Program implementation. Implements the safety and health home organization's interpretations of requirements regarding OSHA regulations, DOE Orders, consensus standards, and other DOE contract requirements. Uses expertise as a safety professional to serve as a technical expert to management in the development, maintenance, and implementation of industrial safety programs for INTEC-WM and is empowered to make decisions and recommendations with concurrence form management. This position works as a team with the INTEC-WM industrial hygienist, and Fire Protection Engineer to develop concepts and techniques that provide solutions to complex industrial safety situations. The IS is involved in a broad range of industrial safety topical areas, including hazardous waste operations and needs to have both general industrial and construction safety experience, as well as environmental remediation. The IS supports company goals for operational excellence, Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS). The IS provides industrial hygiene technical support under the guidance of an industrial hygienist. In addition to effectively functioning as an industrial safety professional, good communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience): This is a multi-level posting and the successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills. At the Idaho Environmental Coalition, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials. Bachelor's degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene from an accredited college or university. OR Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university. Experience: At least two years of safety experience, CSP, and experience at HAZWOPER sites a plus. Candidates should be knowledgeable in occupational safety and health regulations/standards that apply at a DOE contract facility subject to 10 CFR 851 requirements including the requirements from OSHA regulations, 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926. Familiar with determination of hazard controls through a work control process and assessing implementation and effectiveness of controls during field walkdowns. Salary Grade 15: Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years directly relevant experience Salary Grade 18: Bachelor's Degree plus 12 years directly relevant experience The U.S. Department of Energy's' Idaho National Laboratory Site is a federal facility that performs work involving national security. As such, our jobs require U.S. citizenship. Effective Monday, May 12, 2025, REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) is required to gain access to all IEC and INL facilities (such as in-person interviews, medical & pre-employment drug screening, and for new employee orientation). HAZWOPER Training. Position Responsibilities: Review/develop project, task and/or facility-level documents to ensure safety requirements are identified and implemented. Participate in assessments/reviews as assigned or other higher-level tasks as approved by safety and health manager. Review and comment on company industrial safety documents. Attend pre-job briefings; observe activities and work areas during task performance. Address safety concerns and issues with employees. Provide feedback on work processes regarding observed safety issues. Identify, analyze and mitigate safety hazards through application of basic principles, theories and concepts. Additionally apply an understanding/knowledge of other safety related disciplines. Follow work control processes in MCP-101, MCP-3562 and other company procedures. Participate in planning and review of work activities. Review and approve work control documents. Serve on Hazard Evaluation Groups as assigned. Provide technical support to line management regarding implementation of safety requirements per company procedures and regulatory/contractual requirements through application of safety principles. Use ingenuity, innovation and creativity to develop solutions to complex problems. Provide IH Technician support as necessary. Monitor and evaluate line management's implementation of safety requirements and programs. Schedule and conduct assessments as needed; discuss findings with line management to determine corrective actions. Support implementation of corrective actions through follow-up assessments as needed. Document and track issues in company issue management system. Review new/modified systems, structures and components. Provide industrial safety-related design criteria requirements; review design of new/modified facilities. Attend design/project meetings as needed. Prepare work status reports as requested. Status accomplishments to objectives or assignments. Meet periodically with management to discuss work performance and activities. Attend required training, professional development meetings and safety meetings commensurate with position responsibilities. Analyze data related to accidents and near misses. Assist management and employee safety team members on accident investigation and in determining the root cause in accordance with company procedures. Assist management in completion of accident documentation. Discuss with the appropriate manager the case management of day-away accidents. Must apply by 10:00 PM MST, midnight EST, September 8, 2026.
