Respiratory Care AssistantAt WakeMed, our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our community—and we do it by delivering outstanding, compassionate care.We are hiring a Respiratory Care Assistant (RCA) to support our Respiratory Care team while completing an accredited Respiratory Care Program. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), gaining hands-on experience while helping provide safe, effective respiratory care to patients across a variety of clinical settings.What You'll DoAssist with respiratory care treatments and procedures under the supervision of a licensed RCP.Set up, maintain, and process respiratory equipment and oxygen delivery systems.Perform approved respiratory care procedures, including aerosol therapy, nebulizer treatments, incentive spirometry, and airway clearance therapies.Monitor patients and communicate observations and treatment responses to the care team.Support patient care by performing tasks such as manual resuscitation, arterial punctures, suctioning, and electrocardiograms (where applicable).Who You AreCurrently enrolled in a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved Respiratory Care Program.Interested in developing clinical skills and building a career in respiratory care.Able to work effectively as part of a healthcare team and follow established clinical guidelines.Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing compassionate patient care.If you're currently pursuing a career in respiratory care and are ready to gain valuable clinical experience, we encourage you to apply and join our team at WakeMed.
