Clinical Manager, Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County

AGENCY MISSION:

• Promoting the safety, health and emotional well-being of abused children and their caregivers by bringing together public, private and community partners

 
BASIC FUNCTION:

• Responsible for research of clinical programs, development, implementation, evaluation and supervision of clinical services. Responsible for assisting the children and families in achieving safety, decreasing symptoms associated with the current sexual abuse/physical abuse/traumatic event, increasing coping skills, identifying areas of increased emotional strength, and identifying and establishing relationships within the child's system that offer increased opportunities for support and healing. These goals may be achieved through individual therapy with the child, individual sessions with the child's (non-offending) parent/caretaker, joint sessions with the child and appropriate others. These goals may also be achieved through application of a variety of sound clinical modalities and evidenced-based treatment

 
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Program/Services Management:

• Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and evaluates clinical program activities to meet goals
• Oversight, supervision, and evaluation of clinical staff
• Works with Director of Client Services to set expectations and has accountability for therapy staff client service hours
• Works closely with billing staff to ensure accuracy of insurance reimbursements
• Assist clinical staff with maintaining appropriate skills and education
• Demonstrates support of management, mission, values and goals of CACSC
• Provides information regarding Clinical Services for National Children's Alliance (NCA) accreditation
• Assist in coordination of the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of therapy interns
• Facilitate weekly therapy referral meeting and maintain statistical data in accordance with the meeting
• Assist Director of Client Services with gathering and maintaining statistical data for grant reports

Client & Professional Services:

• Provide assessment and therapeutic services to child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers/family members
• Maintain records on all children and families including but not limited to services provided, length of time a case is active, and a log of all referrals made to other agencies
• Develop individualized treatment plans indicating goals, method, and length of treatment
• Consult and communicate with the Child Family Advocate and EMCU regarding referrals and case information to assess for appropriate therapeutic intervention
• Provide psychoeducation to non-offending caregivers/family members to clarify their roles in the treatment process and increase their ability to be supportive and protective of their child/children
• Facilitate/manage PSB program
• Maintain adequate client caseloads to meet billable hour goals
• Maintain a working knowledge of community resources and ability to use and refer appropriately to meet client's needs. Coordinate with appropriate agencies providing services to clients and families
• Understand and utilize the CACSC & MDT Guidelines for service delivery and communication with partner agencies
• Attend MDT Case Review meetings. May include presentation of cases when requested or necessary
• Promote teamwork while collaborating with other office/agency staff members to achieve best resolutions
• Participate and present educational programs within the community as a resource for child abuse and protection issues
• Attend conferences, trainings and supervision as needed to maintain current licensure and meet NCA accreditation standards
• Expectation to function as a mandatory reporter as defined in K.S.A. 38-2223
• Demonstrate support of management, mission, values and goals of CACSC
• Represent the Child Advocacy Center in related activities, including fundraising initiatives and community outreach
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested to assist with everyday functioning of the Child Advocacy Center

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Staff Therapists
• Interns/Practicum students

 
OVERTIME NEEDS:

• Minimal, with prior approval from supervisor

 
ATTENDANCE:

• The CACSC and/or partner agencies are open 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. While hours are flexible within that framework, the Clinical Manager must be prompt for scheduled sessions, programs and services while representing the CACSC in a professional manner. Some evening hours may be requested

 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience:

• Clinical staff supervision experience required
• Minimum of 5 years direct client experience required
• CPT or RPT certification preferred
• Advanced working knowledge of child welfare systems, child abuse and neglect research and practice preferred

Education:

• BSRB Licensed, Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or other closely related human services area. Advanced Clinical license is required
• Must maintain appropriate licensure, credentials, and continuing education for performing therapy with children and families
• Completion of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or other evidenced-based trauma therapy is required (can be completed following hire). Certification is encouraged

Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary
• Ability to work with children of all ages but possesses particular expertise and/or interest in working with children ages 8–18
• Able to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
