Insurance Agent Trainee

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana Job Title: Life Insurance Sales Agent Employment Type: Full-Time with Benefits Work Arrangement: Field Role Career and Opportunity Kemper is a diversified insurance holding company committed to serving moderate-income families. We focus on frequent personal home visits to collect premiums, conduct sales of new policies, and address customer service needs. New unlicensed agents start with paid training, pass licensing exams, and then receive an existing book of business. Agents earn a percentage of collected premiums and commissions on new sales, with potential to increase income through performance. Day-to-Day Activities Conduct sales presentations, recommend products, and close new sales. Prospect for new sales opportunities. Maintain strong customer relationships by collecting premiums on a pre‑arranged schedule. Respond promptly to service requests such as beneficiary changes, claims, and loans. Keep records, account for money collected, and process policy paperwork. Agent Expectations Grow the assigned territory through new sales. Build strong working relationships with customers. Devote the time necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Pursue continuous professional development in insurance products and sales effectiveness. Minimum Qualifications Customer service experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver’s license with required auto insurance coverage. Dependable vehicle for daily travel. Ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle report, and drug screening. Authorization to work in the United States. Preparation Licensing: Free access to study tools and professional guidance to prepare for licensing exams. Training: New agents complete onboarding development program including self-study, classroom instruction, and field mentoring by a Sales Manager.
