We are seeking a Field Services Inspector to provide boots-on-the-ground support for utility construction projects and serve as a trusted connection between field activity and the broader project team.

As a Field Services Inspector, you will serve as Trident's eyes and ears in the field. You will observe construction activities, document project progress and site conditions, review work against construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements, identify potential quality or construction concerns, and communicate field information to the appropriate project stakeholders.

This is a highly field-based position that requires frequent travel to utility construction sites throughout Trident's service territory and other project locations as assigned. Depending on project needs, assignments may require extended travel, overnight stays, and work at locations away from the St. Charles office. Candidates should be comfortable spending the majority of their working time in the field and traveling wherever project support is needed.

The ideal candidate understands utility or construction field operations, communicates effectively with different project stakeholders, produces thorough documentation, and has the judgment to recognize when field conditions, construction activities, or completed work may require additional attention.

Be Where the Work Happens
This is not a desk-based inspection position. You'll work directly at active utility construction sites, gaining firsthand exposure to project execution, construction practices, equipment, contractors, and changing field conditions.

As a Field Services Inspector, you will:

• Observe utility construction activities and document work occurring at assigned project sites. 
• Review field activities against applicable construction drawings, specifications, work packages, project requirements, and established procedures. 
• Monitor and document contractor progress, workmanship, materials, equipment, site conditions, and significant construction activities. 
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely daily inspection reports, photographs, field notes, and other required project documentation. 
• Identify potential construction deficiencies, discrepancies, quality concerns, material issues, access challenges, design conflicts, or changing field conditions. 
• Communicate inspection findings and emerging field concerns to Construction Supervisors, project teams, customers, contractors, and other appropriate stakeholders. 
• Serve as a reliable field communication link between construction activity and the broader project team. 
• Assist Construction Supervisors and project teams with field coordination, construction progress tracking, and visibility into project conditions. 
• Observe field safety conditions and contractor work practices and communicate concerns through established project and safety processes. 
• Participate in applicable job briefings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and other field safety activities. 
• Support third-party, customer, and project-specific inspection activities as required. 
• Identify recurring deficiencies or field trends and communicate observations that may help improve project execution and construction quality. 
• Maintain organized project records and ensure field information is documented accurately and submitted according to project requirements. 
• Represent Trident professionally while interacting with customers, contractors, property owners, field crews, and other project stakeholders. 
• Work independently in changing field environments while maintaining regular communication with the appropriate Trident team members. 
• Travel frequently to assigned project sites based on customer and project needs. 

This position requires a high level of travel and field availability. Field Services Inspectors are assigned based on active project needs, and work locations may change as projects begin, progress, and reach completion.

Candidates should be prepared to:

• Travel regularly to utility construction sites and other project locations. 
• Work at project sites throughout Trident's service territory and at other locations as assigned. 
• Stay overnight when project location, schedule, or travel distance requires it. 
• Drive between project sites and work locations. 
• Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and terrain. 
• Adjust to changing project locations, schedules, and field conditions. 
• Report directly to project sites when required rather than working from Trident's St. Charles office. 
• Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. 

• 3+ years of experience in utility construction, construction inspection, field operations, QA/QC, construction oversight, utility work planning, contractor oversight, or a related field preferred. 
• Experience working around utility infrastructure, including transmission, distribution, substations, underground utilities, or related construction environments is highly valued. 
• Working knowledge of construction methods, field operations, project specifications, and safety practices. 
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, maps, and other project documentation. 
• Ability to recognize construction discrepancies, quality concerns, and changing field conditions. 
• Strong written documentation and field-reporting skills. 
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, customers, supervisors, and project teams. 
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in field environments. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using mobile devices, applications, and electronic field-reporting tools. 
• Familiarity with JHAs, JSAs, hazard identification, and field safety practices. 
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. 
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay overnight when required by project assignments. 

• Ability to work primarily in outdoor and active construction environments. 
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven or challenging terrain. 
• Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and navigate active project sites as required. 
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions. 
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when required. 
• Ability to safely work around construction equipment, vehicles, utility infrastructure, and active field operations. 
• Ability to hear, see, communicate, and respond effectively in safety-sensitive environments.
