Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Bioinformatics Analyst. This project will look at immune aging in patients with benign and malignant plasma cell disorders (MGUS, smoldering myeloma and multiple myeloma). In the first instance the project will analyze a large database of serum proteomic data to determine the immune age of cases compared to age matched normal controls using novel bioinformatic approaches. Later analyses may include genomic and epigenomic characterization of lesions that are critical to the development of precursor conditions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with bench scientists to understand and help accomplish their research goals
• Other duties as assigned
• Assist in preparing concise presentations of computational results
• Work with bioinformatics team to integrate different types of genomics
• Adapt genomic data analysis pipelines in a rapidly evolving research environment
• Assist in the design, implementation and execution of customized pipelines for collaborative research projects
• Assist in the design, implementation, and execution standard pipelines for routine genomics data analyses
• Perform robust data quality control and validation
• Develop expertise in various types of sequencing data analysis (e.g. RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, sequencing of long reads)

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a B.S. in mathematics, biological sciences, computer science or related disciplines.
Experience in Unix/Linux systems including HPC environments.
Scripting languages: Python or Perl.
Statistical packages: R (preferred) or Matlab.
Excellent communication skills with proficiency in written and oral English.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,481.60 - $72,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
