About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Adult Behavioral Health Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36/48 or straight 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum of two years in Med-Surg Tele RN or Psych RN License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: PROFESSIONAL NURSING CARE ASSESSMENT NURSING PROCESS INTERVENTION EVALUATION Description: The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The Registered Nurse is delegated an assignment to achieve quality patient care. The Registered Nurse shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, Physicians, and ancillary staff. Documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation by Nurse Manager, and patient evaluations of care will evidence this. The Registered Nurse is responsible for patient care. The Registered Nurse is ultimately accountable to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator and/or Patient Care Manager. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. This includes assessing and intervening appropriately when a patient’s condition worsens and requires immediate attention. The Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development. The Registered Nurse possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. The Registered Nurse interprets appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The Registered Nurse will provide the care needed. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to perform all technical skills required for the patient population. This includes rendering professional nursing care, administering medications, starting intravenous access, and maintaining intravenous lines and Foley catheters. The Registered Nurse will perform venipuncture, administration of blood products, restraint application and monitoring, sterile dressing, and routine treatments as ordered by the physician. The Registered Nurse demonstrates technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used. This includes traction, wound vacuum systems, sequential compression devices, telemetry monitoring devices, blood glucose monitoring devices, and specialty beds. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and assisting patients using various devices. This includes abduction pillows, splints, slings, braces, neck collars, walkers, crutches, and immobilizers. The Registered Nurse demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation, bedside shift reports, and verbal communication. The Registered Nurse communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members. The Registered Nurse maintains clinical skills by staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment, and certifications required in specific nursing areas. The Registered Nurse embraces and practices a culture of caring in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee, and non-employee interactions. The Registered Nurse implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care. This includes prompt intervention when clinical changes occur and prevention of complications in patients requiring monitoring and medical care. The Registered Nurse communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. The Registered Nurse adheres to and promotes established values. These values include customer service, safety, and compliance standards. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions with customers, both internal and external. The Registered Nurse demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently. The Registered Nurse ensures that patients are discharged in a timely manner and keeps overtime to a minimum. Schedule Notes: Day shift may require floating to child/adolescent as needed. EMR used is EPIC. Ratios are 9:1 patients who are physically stable and do not require drips or intensive medical interventions. Inpatients are battling mental illness and require medication and treatment. Scrub color is Galaxy Blue. Time Keeping system is Kronos.
