Underground Submarine & Cables Project Manager (Detroit)

DescriptionOur Transmission & Distribution global practice is seeking a Project Manager to join our growing Underground and Submarine Cable business in our Detroit office. The Project Manager will manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of underground distribution and/or transmission work. Project Managers are expected to proactively grow client relationships into repeat business and expand service offerings. They will be responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and the establishment and maintenance of a professional and satisfactory relationship with the client, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders. Additionally, the Project Manager will assist with pursuing new clients and maintaining existing clients through direct marketing responsibilities.Primary responsibilities of the Project Manager will include:Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion, including routing/siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, procurement, construction administration, and closeout.Leverage existing client relationships, create new client relationships, and focus on repeat work within each client account.Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.Assist with internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, risk management, change management, and human resource issues.Serve as the primary point of contact with clients regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, master scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support, and schedule attainment.Manage all aspects of project communicationDevelop and implement project policies and procedures, establish project controls systems, and implement the project execution plan.Work closely with the Project Team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to the client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.Report regularly on progress, cost, and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring support.Travel to clients and project locations is expected periodically.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related degree from an accredited program and 7 years of applicable experience RequiredPrior experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, and work overtime on short notice.Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft OfficeAbility to work collaboratively with others (owners, contractors, engineers, designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management softwareJob Field: Project ManagementJob Type: ExperiencedSchedule: Full-timeTravel: Yes, 25 % of the Time
