Full-Time Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis, MO) - BJH CDL South and BJH CDL CAM New graduates, upcoming graduates, and experienced sonographers are welcome to apply. Position Details Day Shift Hours: 4–10 hour shifts per week (7am-5:30pm) with rotating days off Paid Saturday Rotation: approximately once a month 8 hr shift 07:30-16:00 with additional day off during the week Closed on Sundays and all major holidays No after‑hours call Performs transthoracic echocardiography exams for inpatient and outpatient Uses GE equipment with newer GE E95 machines, PICOM Imaging/Reporting system, EPIC Implements echocardiographic imaging techniques: 3‑D echocardiography, transplanted heart and lungs Testing modalities include transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress transthoracic echocardiography Requirements Associate's Degree or Trade School equivalency Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential Preferred Qualifications If you have experience as an echocardiographer, echocardiography technologist, cardiac sonographer, echo tech, or related roles, you could be a good fit. Responsibilities Performs complex echocardiography exams at various locations throughout the academic campus Evaluates all aspects of cardiovascular patient clinical assessment for cardiac conditions and recognizes abnormalities Reviews and correlates relevant patient history, including corrective procedures, surgeries, etc., and applies independent clinical judgment during the exam to ensure appropriate anatomical, pathophysiology, and clinical conditions are captured in examination images Acquires advanced modalities such as 3‑D, right heart strain, TAPSE, PISA, transcatheter pre/post valvular repair/replacement, HOCM, etc. Communicates with the healthcare team to collaborate on care; reviews examination images, synthesizes examination results, and prepares preliminary findings to support the interpreting physician echocardiographer by contributing technical impressions and professional knowledge to facilitate the completion of a final diagnostic report for use in clinical care Minimum Requirements Education: Associate or Trade School equivalency Licenses & Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Preferred Requirements: None specified Experience: No prior experience required Supervisor Experience: No prior supervisor experience required Benefits and Legal Statement Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services available first day of the month after hire date Disability insurance paid for by BJC Annual 4% BJC Automatic Retirement Contribution 401(k) plan with BJC match Tuition assistance available on the first day BJC Institute for Learning and Development Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts Paid Time Off benefit combines vacation, sick days, holidays and personal time Adoption assistance To learn more, see our Benefits Summary. *Not all benefits apply to all jobs.
