Dental Assistant I

Position Overview: This role supports dental providers in delivering patient care at a community health center. The Dental Assistant assists with chairside procedures across various dental specialties, ensures patient comfort, and maintains clinical standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques. Greet, escort, and communicate effectively with patients. Educate patients on procedures and obtain vital signs. Ensure sterilization and OSHA compliance. Assist with scheduling, charting, inventory, and quality improvement activities. Train new staff and participate in departmental training. Support infection control protocols and maintain confidentiality. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED; formal Dental Assistant training required or minimum 1-year experience. Registered with the Washington State Department of Health; valid CPR/BLS certification. Effective communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred. Ability to problem-solve, interpret dental materials, and perform physical demands of the role. Pass pre-hire competency test with at least 80% and annual competency assessments. Compliance with health screening and vaccination requirements. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Moderate to loud noise levels; may involve sharing workspace and some travel. Requires physical ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform detailed tasks with good vision. Reasonable accommodations can be provided.
