A well-established and growing organization in the construction and infrastructure services industry is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join its accounting and finance team.


This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with 3-4 years of accounting and tax experience , including experience in public accounting , who is ready to take on greater responsibility in a corporate environment. The Senior Tax Accountant will play an important role in tax compliance, tax accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement across multiple business entities.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in federal, state, and local taxation, along with excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently while partnering with the broader accounting and finance team.


OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

• Prepare and review tax workpapers, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Prepare and coordinate federal, state, and local tax compliance for multiple business entities.
• Assist with S-Corporation, partnership, and other pass-through entity tax filings , including related state and local requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate sales and use, gross receipts, payroll-related, and other miscellaneous tax filings .
• Support the preparation and review of annual tax returns, extensions, estimates, and related tax schedules.
• Research federal, state, and local tax matters and communicate findings and recommendations to the Tax Director and accounting leadership.
• Assist with tax accounting, tax provisions, and related financial statement reporting .
• Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies.
• Assist with tax audits, notices, inquiries, and information requests from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
• Collaborate with accounting, insurance, legal, project cost, and operational teams on tax and accounting-related matters.
• Assist with evaluating internal controls, identifying accounting and tax risks, and implementing process improvements.
• Support corporate credit card accounting, expense reporting, and other finance-related processes as needed.
• Prepare financial analyses, management reports, and special projects for the Tax Director and Controllers.
• Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team on tax-related questions and processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax compliance processes, reporting, documentation, and overall efficiency.
• Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations that may impact the organization.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
• 3-4 years of progressive accounting and tax experience , with public accounting experience strongly preferred .
• Experience preparing or supporting federal, state, and local tax compliance .
• Understanding of corporate and pass-through entity taxation , including S-Corporations and partnerships.
• Experience with multi-state tax compliance is highly preferred.
• Exposure to tax provisions, tax accounting, or financial reporting is a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
• Experience researching and resolving tax questions, notices, and compliance issues.
• CPA certification or active progress toward the CPA is preferred.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, or another multi-entity environment is a plus.
