Interim Senior Cost Accountant

A manufacturing client of ours near Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a contract Senior Cost Accountant (Hybrid role for local candidates or remote with occasional / ad-hoc travel to plant).

SAP ERP experience required.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely month-end closings
• Perform cost accounting functions, including variance analysis and product costing
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
• Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management
• Assist with annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations
• Utilize SAP for financial data management and reporting
• Create and maintain cost centers, profit centers, and other master data
• Generate standard and custom reports using ERP system capabilities

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field (required)
• Cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment with strong understanding of manufacturing process (required).
• SAP ERP experience (required)
• 3-5 years of experience in general ledger and cost accounting
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and critical thinking skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
• Ability to create and analyze data to help the business make decisions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
