Job Summary/Basic Function


The RHIC is responsible for assisting with improvement of residential facilities including but not limited to projects involving painting rooms, moving furniture, storage inventory, light cleaning, landscaping, deliveries, etc. As part of your integral job responsibility, you will be required to live on-campus in order to provide on-call and emergency coverage and to serve as a visible, positive role-model to our community of residents.

1. Participate in the completion of all requested residence hall improvement projects, including, but not limited to, painting (often using a ladder); supply inventory and dispersal; completing forms/paperwork; cleaning and organizing rooms, lounges and storage areas; moving furniture and heavy items; inventory and dispersal of furniture; landscaping; minor facilities maintenance (changing light bulbs, vacuuming, etc.); and other special projects as determined by the RHIC Supervisor or other Residence Life staff.
2. Attend training sessions with RHIC Supervisor before the start of residence hall improvement projects.
3. Work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, a minimum of 15 hours per week but not to exceed 25 hours per week.
4. Assist with projects which may include working with facility services, housekeeping personnel, summer conference staff and/or summer resident assistant staff.
5. Assist in inventorying and requesting items to be purchased related to RHIC projects
6. Run job-related errands and drive large vehicles (two-axle).
7. Other duties as assigned by the supervising staff member.

Minimum Qualifications


Maintain enrollment in at least 6 credit hours at Shepherd University for summer or upcoming fall semester.
