Bonus Amount $20,000 Overview Department: Stepdown (Cardiac Care Unit – Progressive Care) Shift’s Available: Days Employment Type: Full Time Hours: 12‑hour shifts – 7:00am to 7:00pm Location: Providence Medical Center – Kansas City, KS The Stepdown Registered Nurse specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. The Step-Down RN offers an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical‑surgical floor. Step-Down Nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination. Responsibilities Delivers decisive, high-acuity patient care while closely monitoring patients, and care coordination for optimal patient outcomes. Monitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect any changes or abnormalities, which is crucial for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, heart attacks, or other cardiac conditions. Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain‑management medications. Perform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical examinations, review of medical histories, and evaluation of symptoms. Provide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self‑care practices. React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, necessitating immediate implementation of emergency procedures, administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and assistance with defibrillation and other crucial life‑saving measures. Qualifications Must have a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State. BLS upon hire and must maintain the certification current. Previous acute‑care hospital experience preferred. ACLS within 30 days of hire and must be maintained current. Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance options.
