Travel Med Surg RN

Position Overview Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Med Surg RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Weatherford, Texas. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in medical‑surgical and telemetry units. Required Qualifications One year of recent Med Surg RN experience. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA/ARC) certification. Preferred Qualifications NIHSS certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA/ARC) certification. Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Essential Work Functions Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, documenting changes and reporting to the care team. Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses. Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures. Document patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and outcomes, in the medical record. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, physical therapists, social workers—to create and implement individualized care plans. Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs. Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use. Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan. Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Proficiency in PC skills. Physical, Interpersonal, Technical, Mental, Sensory Requirements Physical: Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend. Interpersonal: Must work effectively with a variety of personnel and present a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/Motor: Must grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move during procedures or when using equipment. Mental: Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally, and handle irregular activity schedules.
