Automation Engineer

Software Technology Inc

Mobile Testing Engineer

Client: Walmart

Role: Mobile testing engineer

Levels: S3 or S4

Number of Openings: 8-10 positions right now – looking to expand team more by EOY as well likely

Duration: 6-9 month CTH

Location: Bentonville, AR; Reston, VA; Dallas, TX; potentially Bay Area, CA

Remote Capabilities (Y/N): They are starting hybrid work (1-2 days a week onsite right now)

Interview: Test case designing and coding in JAVA & Appium (open up the system and have them share Java Eclipse or similar for that for solutioning a problem they are asking) as well as discussing any other work they’ve done (test case development, project deliveries, etc.) – 2 45 minute IVs typically

If someone is more web focused will gear questions that direction instead versus Appium

Planning to try and do 2+ IV slots per day to get these filled w/ the 2 managers

Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope?

Mobile automation engineering (iOS & Android based application) using Appium/JAVA

Highly preferred someone to have mobile testing experience – but if not (and web/selenium based background) need to at least know the basics of how you set up your tools for mobile testing and how Appium works

This is the application that is used by the associates – large application (3rd largest out there of its sort) and has over 43 applications integrated into it --- that number is also increasing and expect that to be up to 90+ by end of 2023

This is all an internal application – NOT used by external customers

Work will be 70%+ automation; rest would be manual based (varies based on what project)

Work is relayed through engineering team who work directly with the field associates – this role will not be user/customer facing and is strictly technical

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:

Designing test scenarios/test cases

Testing complex applications (need to have worked on larger enterprise apps before)

Will be working with Appium and also JAVA for scripting

Top must-have technologies/required experience for the position:

JAVA (use this to build test cases – don’t do SDET work necessarily)

Appium (at least exposure/familiarity with ideally more experience with)

Team Size & Structure:

20+ people on different areas/groups (6 members US based right now and adding) 50-60 total

Education or Certification Requirements: Computer science degree preferred.

Industry Experience requirements/preferences: Not required – want someone who has exposure to enterprise level work though working on larger applications

Required Skills: Java, Appium, iOS and Android Mobile testing.
