Registered Nurse - Med/Surg - Night Shift

Location: New Mexico

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM

Job Description: The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. This position involves demonstrating performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
• Develop and implement measurable individualized care plans within the timeframe established by Nursing Standards of Care.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcomes; modify care plans as needed.
• Participate in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care.
• Utilize effective communication strategies and delegate work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care activities.
• Coordinate team assignments and make adjustments based upon patient and unit needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current RN license in New Mexico or a current Compact state license.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
