Senior Data Scientist - Machine Learning

Salary: $123,000 - 163,000 per year Requirements:

• Deep, hands-on expertise in traditional predictive machine learning and statistical modeling, including classification, probability modeling, model evaluation and calibration, class imbalance, seasonality, temporal validation, and data leakage prevention
• Strong skills in feature engineering, feature selection, and feature-importance analysis, with the ability to identify useful signals in complex, high-dimensional datasets
• Demonstrated experience applying machine learning and feature engineering in sales, revenue, opportunity, or customer-focused domains, and connecting model outputs to actionable business outcomes
• Experience with logistic regression, gradient-boosted trees such as XGBoost or LightGBM, and Scikit-learn or comparable machine-learning frameworks
• Advanced Python and SQL skills, including Pandas, NumPy, relational database analysis, and work with structured and unstructured data
• Experience building machine-learning training and evaluation workflows and feature-engineering pipelines, as well as using experiment tracking, model versioning, monitoring, and production-oriented practices
• Strong coding and analytical abilities, including independently exploring data, building and testing models, evaluating results, and adapting as data and business needs change

• Analyze complex, high-dimensional datasets to uncover meaningful predictive signals
• Develop and assess classification, probability-based, and statistical models
• Engineer and select features, assess feature importance, and experiment with data from multiple sources
• Build repeatable machine-learning training, evaluation, and feature-engineering workflows
• Connect model performance with actionable sales, revenue, customer adoption, and opportunity outcomes

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist for a small technical project team in San Jose, California, developing a machine-learning solution to identify and prioritize high-value learning engagement opportunities. The role centers on traditional machine learning, statistical modeling, feature engineering, and sales-oriented predictive analytics; generative AI and large language model experience may be complementary.
